About the Role

Applicants who have experience providing bookkeeping duties to a portfolio of clients (Ideally in an Accounting Firm) will be at an advantage for this position.

As a Junior Bookkeeper, you will make a positive impact by helping our clients build financially healthy fruitful businesses. You will help business owners gain clarity in their finances and help eradicate poor financial management by being accountable and responsible for the quality and timeliness of all bookkeeping and payroll tasks.  

You will spend a great amount of time communicating with clients and giving them bookkeeping and general advice and support. For this reason, you have to enjoy communicating and interacting with people.

You will wake up every day with our firm’s DNA, which is a passion to help our clients build a financially healthy and fruitful business.

Ultimately you will be responsible for the quality of all Bookkeeping, Payroll, and other general tasks. You will be responsible for meeting all your department’s deadlines whilst providing exceptional service and helping clients with advice and insight they can trust.

The position is a Hybrid position (office and work-from-home position) where the candidate must have a separate room/office in the house with a closed door dedicated to work purposes with no distractions. 

The position requires a smart, hard-working person who will contribute to our firm’s purpose.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

● Maintain client’s accounting records on a day-to-day basis.
● Ensure accurate and up-to-date financial records for all clients that reflect the true performance and financial position of the client’s business.
● Deal with the customer on the front line and answer any questions that they may have.
● Process Payroll
● Prepare, Reconcile, and Submit Payroll returns to SARS
● Maintain accountability for the quality and timeliness of all tasks.
● Planning your workload to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency.
● Provide excellent customer service to the group of clients you’re assigned to
● Consultation with SARS, the Department of Labour, and the CIPC.
● Accurate submissions and registrations of the relevant returns with the CIPC, SARS, and Department of Labour.
● Accurate processing and claiming of all VAT-related transactions, to minimize clients’ VAT liabilities.

What You Need to Succeed

● You believe in delivering spectacular customer service and you have experience in a customer-facing role.
● You can deliver spectacular customer service, you have great communication skills and you are able to easily explain difficult concepts
● You are exceptionally detail-oriented and organized.
● You have an educational background in accounting or bookkeeping.
● You have at least 5 years of acceptable experience doing the above tasks.
● You are tech-savvy and able to switch between several applications easily.
● You embrace positive change and growth and are always eager to provide suggestions to improve our firm and the way we do things.
● You are a problem solver.
● You are able to and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
● You are a pro at producing accurate and up-to-date financial records.
● You are a pro at reconciling and turning messy books into clean books.
● You are self-dependent and don’t need to be micromanaged.
● Strong Time Management Skills. You are efficient and an expert in time management/managing your capacity.
● You have good experience processing payroll.
● You have at least 2 years of experience using cloud accounting software (Sage, Xero, Quickbooks)
● Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
● Strong prioritizing skills
● Ability to take ownership, accountability, responsibility and receive constructive criticism.
● Always wanting to learn and better yourself both personally and professionally.
● Excellent writing skills
● Excellent communication skills
● Bookkeeping to Trial Balance and Payroll Qualifications (advantageous)
● You have a strong work ethic and are not afraid to take on new challenges.
● You are able to meet tight deadlines
● You can deliver spectacular customer service, you have great communication skills and you are able to easily explain difficult concepts
